Men’s Golf

The Talons Golf team traveled to Forest Hills Country Club in Rockford, Illinois, for the Highland Spring Invite on April 20. The team finished last of 13 participating teams with a total score of 748. The North Iowa Area Country Club won with a score of 611.

“Forest Hills is a 6,509 yard, par 72 tournament course,” Coach Nick Hagen said. “It was an exciting opportunity for the Talons. We were thrilled to compete in this tournament at such a historic golf course.”

The final totals for individuals were:

  • Wyatt Marshall: 163; tied for 45th place
  • Ryan Daschner: 164; tied for 47th place
  • Koen Lueck: 187; 77th place
  • Corbin Kersten: 234; 82nd place

“Daschner's round of 80 was his lowest in competition as a Talon, besting his previous low round by three strokes,” Hagen added.

Then on April 23, the team finished its season by visiting the par 71 Nettle Creek Country Club in Morris, Illinois, for the Melee in Morris Spring Invite. Eleven teams competed, and Illinois Central came out on top with a score of +4.

The Talons finished in eighth place overall. Individual scores were:

Marshall: 73; tied for sixth place

Daschner: 78; tied for 17th place

Lueck: 81; tied for 31st place

Kersten: 106; tied for 64th place

Coach Nick Hagen said, “Marshall was two strokes from a medalist finish, finishing with a birdie on the final hole. Lueck was just one stroke off his tournament low score. And Daschner continued steady play and beat his career low again, as did Kersten. The team competed well, and it was great to see our golfers posting college-career-best scores. We have a good group, and it was fun seeing the team enjoy a successful day.”

Clay Target Shooting

The Clay Target Shooting team participated in its first week of competition for the spring season. Results will be posted as soon as they are available.
