Talons Sports Roundup for Week of Jan. 12: Women’s Basketball Team Adds a Win

Women’s Basketball

The women’s basketball team traveled to Wilbur Wright College in Chicago on Jan. 13. The Talons routed the Panthers 102-32 in what Coach Aaron Dobbs called an “all-around amazing team effort.”

Kamille Thomas led the scoring with 30 points, including a 16-point first quarter that included four three-pointers. Arrianna Eubanks added 25 points. Jazzanay Seymore scored 22 points and Shelbi Marx added 12.

Against Bryant and Stratton College at home on Jan. 17, the Talons lost 59-66. Marx put up 15 points and had 10 rebounds. Eubanks had 14 points and five assists, Kamille Thomas scored 11, and Seymore grabbed nine rebounds.

On Jan. 19, the women lost to Rock Valley College 60-100. Seymore banked 16 points and nine rebounds, Eubanks added 12 points, and Thomas had 11 points and nine rebounds. Coach Dobbs said the team competed well in the second half after a rough start to the game.

Next up, the team plays Waubonsee Community College on Saturday, Jan. 24. After that, they take on Milwaukee Area Technical College on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Public Safety Center on the Beloit-Janesville Campus.

Men’s Basketball

The men’s basketball team played at home on Jan. 13 against Black Hawk College. Kwame Hawkins led the Talons in scoring with 25 points. Jeramiyah McAllister put up 19 points and brought down six rebounds. Aidan Maves contributed 11 points and 15 rebounds. Kai Bickham had seven assists and four steals. Despite their efforts, the Talons fell short of the win 86-75.

On Jan. 17, the team traveled to Carl Sandberg College in Galesburg, Illinois. They lost 55-70.

The next matchup is Saturday, Jan. 24 at Waubonsee Community College. They will play at home on Tuesday, Jan. 27, when they take on Milwaukee Area Technical College in the Public Safety Center on the Beloit-Janesville Campus.

Bowling

The Talons competed in the ISBPA Collegiate Classic in Addison, Illinois, Jan. 17-18. The team placed 65th out of 68 teams with a total pinfall of 6,820. Karson Schumacher was the top-placing Talons bowler, at 143rd out of 473 bowlers with a 190 average.
