Talons Sports Roundup for Week of April 6: Golf Team Tees Off Season

Golfer Wyatt Marshall

Men’s Golf

The Talons began the spring 2026 season at the Judson University Spring Invite on April 6. The Men’s Golfers competed as three individuals rather than a team for this competition, but there were also 22 teams at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois.

Coach Nick Hagen said Wyatt Marshall had the lowest score with 84, which was 13 over par. Corbin Kersten beat his lowest tournament score as a Talon by three strokes, beating his average in 2025 by 11 strokes; he came in 44 over par. Ryan Daschner finished 24 over par.

“On the fast and firm greens, the Talons had a solid putting day overall,” Hagen said.

Hagen said the 50-degree temperature and 15 mph winds made conditions challenging, resulting in every golfer at the tournament finishing over par.

Elmhurst University took the top spot among the teams with a score of 19 over par.

Next up for the Talons is the Highland Spring Invite on April 20. This competition will take place at Forest Hills Country Club in Rockford, Illinois. Then on April 23, they travel to Nettle Creek Country Club in Morris, Illinois, for the Melee in Morris Spring Invite.

Clay Target Shooting

The Clay Target Shooting team has started practicing. The first competition begins the week of April 19.
