Men’s Basketball
The Talons hosted Bryant & Stratton College at home on Feb. 9. The team, coached by Nile Finney, came up short, falling 67-91. Kwame Hawkins scored 20 points; Malik Bates had 10 points and eight rebounds; and Jeramiyah McAllister added 13 points and six rebounds.
On Feb. 12, the team took on Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois. Davion Bland had 15 points and six rebounds. Jeremiah McCallister scored 14 points and had six rebounds. Jaymion Copper added 11 points. The team’s effort was not enough as they lost 67-100.
And on Feb. 14, the men faced Madison College at home. McCallister shot for 17 points and got six rebounds. Kwame Hawkins also had 17 points and added four steals. Bland had 13 points and five rebounds. Malik Bates added 12 points and seven rebounds. The Wolfpack, however, did not show any love, beating the Talons 73-108.
The next matchup is tonight, Feb. 16, when they face Milwaukee Area Technical College in the Public Safety Center on the Beloit-Janesville Campus. On Saturday, Feb. 21, they play Morton Community College at home.
Women’s Basketball
On Feb. 14, the women’s basketball team hosted Madison College. They lost 66-75. Kamille Thomas led the Talons scoring with 18 points. Shelbi Marx was right there with 17 points plus a dozen rebounds. Jazzanay Seymore put up 10 points and was all over the boards with 14 rebounds.
“They played another extremely competitive game against a tough opponent,” Coach Aaron Dobbs said. “They just had a rough second quarter due to turnovers. If you break down the other three quarters, we would have won the game. At one point late in the game, we were within two points.Good free throw shooting at the end by Madison College kept us from having a chance to come out on top.”
The next competition will take place at home tonight, Feb. 16, when they play Milwaukee Area Technical College in the Public Safety Center at 6 p.m. Then on Wednesday, Feb. 18., at 5:30 p.m., the Talons will play another home game as they take on Bryant and Stratton in the Public Safety Center.
