Talons Sports Roundup for Week of Oct. 13

Women’s Volleyball

There was a lot of Talons Women's Volleyball action last week. 

First, the team traveled to Crystal Lake, Illinois, on Oct. 15 to take on McHenry Community College. They lost 0-3. Match scores were 14-25, 19-25, and a close 26-28. 

A home game against UW-Whitewater at Rock County on Oct. 17 finally broke the team's losing streak. Victory was sweet for the Talons, who swept UWW 25-17, 25-22, and 25-13. Standout players in this match were Carly Castellano, Abbi Kirwan, and Mady Lucero, Coach Brandy Salonga said.

On Oct. 19, the Talons competed in two matches at Rock Valley College. In the first match against Rock Valley College, Blackhawk’s players lost 17-25, 16-25, and 14-25. In the second, against Spoon River College, the scores were 13-25, 25-18, 19-25, and 17-25, with Spoon River College taking the win.

With three games to go in the season, the team travels to Wilbur Wright College for a match at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Clay Target Shooting

Teygen Riley-Ochsner shot a perfect round of 25 and is ranked 13th in the conference. Alexis Seeley and Jillian Schue both tied for 14th in the conference. Seeley maintains her second-place standing overall in the conference, and Schue moved up to eighth place.

The team still holds sixth place in the conference with a solid lead of 66 true score points and has one week of competition remaining. Riley-Ochsner, Schue, and Seeley will be shooting in the National Championships in Bunker Hill, Illinois, at the Brittney Shooting Complex Oct. 31 through Nov. 2.
