Talons Sports Roundup for Week of Oct. 20

Women’s Volleyball

The Talons Women's Volleyball team played at home on Oct. 25 against Malcom X College. They won 3-0. Match scores were 25-17, 25-19, and 25-19. 

The match was the final one of the fall season for the ladies. Coach Brandy Salonga gave kudos to Mikaela Hoffman, Shelbi Marx, Cassie Cooley, and Katie Klassy as standout contributors for this match.

Bowling

The Talons Bowling team traveled to Ashwaubenon on Saturday for the Great Lakes Bowling Conference II. The Talons, under Coach Mike Bennett, placed 12th out of 20 teams.

Results for the singles event:

  • Karson Schumacher placed 37th, 873 pin count, 174 average
  • McKenna Barry. 57th, 823 pin count, 165 average
  • Trevor Larson 69th, 774 pin count, 154 average
  • Shawn Houfe 70th, 768 pin count, 153 average.
  • Donaven Merritt 73rd, 747 pin count, 149 average

Total pin count: 3,985

Results for Baker games:

  • Sam Budzien only participated on Sunday

Total pin count: 2,425; total pin fall: 6,410

Clay Target Shooting

The Week 5 results for the Talons are in. 

  • Alexis Seeley, 45
  • Jillian Schue, 38
  • Teygen Riley-Ochsner, 31
  • Braunson Dietzman, 18
  • Monica Reif, 18

“This season ended with one of the most successful shooting seasons in Talons history. With a 45, Seeley cemented a first-place standing for females in the conference and tied for sixth overall. Schue rounded the female standings with 10th overall for the conference,” Coach Tim Rockhold said. “I can't express enough gratitude for the support that the administration at Blackhawk and the Talons team members, past and present, have given to this sport and this program.”

Additionally, Seeley, Schue, and Riley-Ochsner will be competing in the College Clay Target National Championships in Bunker Hill, Illinois, Oct. 31 through Nov. 2. The event will consist of 200 targets over a two-day competition at the Illinois State Trap Shooting home grounds, Brittany Shooting Park.
