Talons Women’s Volleyball Go 2-For-2 in Latest Games

The Talons Women’s Volleyball team dominated against Wilbur Wright College at home on Friday, Sept. 5, and beat Prairie State College on the road on Monday, Sept. 8.

Against Wilbur Wright, the team cleaned up with scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-15.

“Every player worked hard for this one,” said Talons Coach Brandy Salonga.

The match against Prairie State ended with scores of 25-23, a close 26-24, and 25-19. Standout athletes for the match included Mikaela Hoffman, Carly Castellanos, and Americus Pomplun.

The Talons sit in sixth place overall out of 30 teams in the NJCAA region 4 conference with a regional record of 4-0, and an overall record of 5-4. The Talons also have the highest hitting percentage of the region, at 2.147%.

In the individual leaders' stats, Shelbi Marx has 4.6 kills per set, the most of any player in the region, while Katie Klassy has the highest hitting percentage in the region at .727.

The women will compete again on Saturday, Sept. 13, traveling to Joliet Junior College for two matches: one against host Joliet at 10 a.m. and a second match against Wilbur Wright College at noon.
