Women's Basketball Season Canceled

Despite our best efforts to recruit and support a full team, we have unfortunately been unable to secure enough players for this season. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the women’s basketball season for this year. We value the enthusiasm and support shown by our student-athletes, coach and fans and remain committed to fostering competitive athletics at Blackhawk. This decision was not made lightly, and we will continue working to build and sustain a strong team next year. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Nile Finney, our Athletics Director, at nfinney@blackhawk.edu.

Image

What is your name? Where did you grow up?

My name is Tim Hall and I grew up in rural Milton.

What is your role at Blackhawk Technical College?

I am the new Learning Management System Specialist.

What was your journey to this role? Where did you go to school? What did you study?

I graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor’s degree in English Education. I landed my first job in a middle school teaching seventh-grade English, then earned my master’s in Education Technology from Cardinal Stritch University. After 12 years of teaching English, I switched over to Technical Education, where I built a Digital Media Program. I taught for 11 more years before making the switch to Blackhawk.

Is there something that drew you to this career?

I love technology innovation.

What motivated you to apply for this position at Blackhawk?

I'm at my best when I'm learning and growing as a professional.

What is something Blackhawk offers its students that you feel other colleges do not?

MyEdChoice is a program that other colleges are not doing.

What is your life like outside of work?

Family is everything: my wife, my three kids, and my dog! Also, soccer is life: I'm the boys' varsity soccer coach in Milton. I also am a hobby farmer.

Tell us something about yourself you think people would be surprised to know.

I used to compete in multi-day adventure races.

What was your first concert? What's one song that must always be on your playlist?

My first concert was Pearl Jam. I can’t pick just one, so anything from the "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd needs to be on my playlist.

If you could be any movie character, who would you choose and why?

Han Solo – Ah, to be a scoundrel!

If you could hang out with any movie character, who would you choose and why?

Dr. Peter Venkman – Sometimes you need to keep things light.

If you could be any TV character, who would you choose and why?

Jim from “The Office” because having fun—even at work —is important to me.

Who is your favorite pro athlete?

I'm still a Ronaldo fan!

Do you have a favorite video game?

Grand Theft Auto 5 is my favorite.
